“The Vampire Diaries” Season 6 finale comes near, and the show’s fans are well aware where the story is going to lead – the Alaric-Jo wedding, and Elena Gilbert’s exit from Mystic Falls.
However, what remains unknown is how showrunners will tie all of the details together.
Carter Matt has reported that the vampire cure is going to be a significant part of the season’s storyline. Elena, played by Nina Dobrev, will be looking for answers to a lot of her questions regarding a back-to-human antidote.
Lily Salvatore, the matriarch of the Salvatore brothers, was the one who handed the vampirism cure to Elena . “Damon was never going to offer it to you,” she said, according to TV Line. However, instead of fueling the fight-caused gap between the show’s “it” couple, Lily revealed to Elena that his son had actually wanted both of them to take the cure.
How Damon’s plans play out remains unclear, especially since Dobrev will be exiting the show pretty soon.
“I want you to live in a big city and be a surgeon and have a family,” said Damon, played by Ian Somerhalder. “But, I am selfish and I am so in love with you and I do not want to lose you.”
Ending up together in the future sounds to be a good finale episode for the show’s sixth season, but Dobrev's decision to leave the series makes everything so tricky.
Elena leaving the town while Damon struggles with his newfound humanity would not make much sense.
When the group was attempting to bring back Caroline’s humanity, played by Candice Accola, she turns the tables and tries to take a jab at Damon.
“I am curious, Damon,” she said, as reported by The International Business Times. “How does it feel to know that you cannot give someone the life she really wants?” Fans of the show are well aware that Elena never wanted to be a vampire.
“What do you want me to say?” Elena asked Damon when they were finally alone. “That I am never going to be 100% okay with being a vampire for the rest of eternity? Fine – but I am okay with that because I get to be with you.”
