July has passed and no new Frank Ocean album anywhere. Disgruntled fans took to Twitter with the hopes of release date updates from the hip-hop star.
It was in April when Frank Ocean announced the release date of his second album and fans worldwide rejoiced. According to the 27-year-old singer/songwriter, the release date for the new album is set sometime in July. With development on the new album revealed in 2013, the July 2015 release date seemed fitting. However, July has come and gone and no new album anywhere to found.
Soon after August stepped in, fans took to Twitter sharing their dismay about the delayed release date. In a report by HollywoodLife, numerous fans shared their outrage about the AWOL Frank Ocean new album.
While most complained about not seeing anything after the July deadline, some fans even went so far as to questioning the actual validity of the rumored "Boys Don't Cry" album. Some fans were asking if there was an actual album even. And what's even more disconcerting is that Frank Album hasn't made a peep about the new album---no release date announcements and apologies whatever so far.
Meanwhile, if and when the new album does come, high-profile collaborations are expected including French musician and composer Christophe Chassol. According to Bet, Chassol shared details of the two meeting and how his involvement in the new Frank Ocean album began.
"Ocean invited me to Abbey Road to record on his album," Chassol shared. "I asked him how he heard about me. He told me his friend Diplo was listening a lot to [my album] Indiamore, and they started to listen to it, and they were wondering how I was doing the speech harmonization, so he called me. He asked me to do some speech harmonization on a song with him."
To date, no word from Frank Ocean or his team about the updated release date of the new album and fans still await the explanation behind the delay. It has been speculated however that the hip-hop artist will soon surface to update disgruntled fans about the new album, and hopefully announce a solid release date and not just a month like what happened last July.
