The movie "Sandman" is at slow and steady pace, it was last announced by Warner Bros last 2013. There are some rumors that Tom Hiddleston will be joining the cast of the movie as Morpheus.
There has been no confirmation yet on who will be portraying the role of Morpheus in the "Sandman" movie. However, according to Crossmap, Neil Gaiman, the creator of "Sandman," is eyeing to cast Tom Hiddleston in the upcoming film. Hiddleston, famous for his role as Loki in "Thor" and "Avengers," is rumored to portray the character of Morpheus in the movie.
Aside from Hiddleston, there are other prospects for the character of Morpheus. One of Neil Gaiman's first choice to portray Morpheus was the "Sherlock" actor Benedict Cumberbatch. However, due to Cumberbatch's busy shooting schedule for "Doctor Strange," he might not be available to shoot for Neil Gaiman's "Sandman."
Another Hollywood actor who is rumored to play Morpheus is Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Some speculate that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be portraying the role of Morpheus and at the same time direct the movie. Levitt still needs to confirm on the matter, but he did share his insights regarding the upcoming "Sandman."
Levitt expressed that, it would be better for "Sandman" to become a movie adaptation rather than TV series in order to preserve the original essence of the "Sandman" comic book. Apparently, there will be scenes which will be based on the graphic novel, but will be mixed with some other ideas.
It is not yet sure if Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be the director but if ever he will be directing, Levitt will be working alongside one of the "Sandman" producers David Goyer and the screenwriter, Jack Thorne.
Tom Hiddleston will still have to confirm the matter regarding his role as Morpheus. However, David Goyer did assure fans that a movie adaptation of "Sandman" will indeed be happening in the future!
