Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo have gotten very close in the many years that they have been portraying husband-and-wife roles for "Grey's Anatomy."

However, it would appear that they have drifted apart following the actor's decision to leave the medical drama.

Pompeo may have thrown some shade on her former co-star during a recent interview. She compared "Grey's Anatomy" to other hit dramas that Shonda Rhimes has also created, such as "How to Get Away with Murder" and "Scandal," to point out that the show will still be a success without McDreamy in its cast.

"It is, like, Annalise Keating carries the show," Pompeo told Entertainment Weekly. "Olivia Pope carries the show. But, somehow, Meredith Gray needs someone. Why can't I just be the lead of the show the way Annalise and Olivia can? Why can't I be on that poster by myself?"

Annalise Keating, played by Viola Davis, leads "How to Get Away with Murder," while Olivia Pope, played by Kerry Washington, is the lead character of "Scandal."

KDramaStars pointed out that the show's massive fan base may have been dismayed when Rhimes opted to kill off Dr. Derek Shepherd, but they are still strongly supporting the show even with one of their favorite characters gone.

Dempsey, on the other hand, is seemingly doing well with his career. After being part of 11 seasons of "Grey's Anatomy," he is moving on and is reportedly going to be part of a new "Bridget Jones' Diary" rendition.

According to Variety, he is currently in talks with film makers to star alongside Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth in what could be entitled, "Bridget Jones' Baby." This film's plot is reportedly going to be based on the columns that were written by the creator of the "Bridget Jones" franchise, Helen Fielding.

Unfortunately, further details about the plot remain unknown at this point. The only information that has been confirmed was that Zellweger and Firth will be back to reprise their roles.
