"Wayward Pines" season 2 renewal has been one of the requests that avid TV show watchers have been clamoring for over the Internet.

The mini-series on FOX has been so successful since its pilot episode that it has gotten its own fan base in a relatively short span of time.

Despite the fact that its show runners have repeatedly been telling everyone that "Wayward Pines" is only a mini-series and not an actual one, its fan base has been requesting for author Blake Crouch and producer M. Night Shyamalan to come up with a story line for a second season.

Shortly after the finale episode aired on TV, Shyamalan revealed that he and Crouch are already hard at work at arriving at an interesting story line for "Wayward Pines" season 2 renewal - one that will give the show justice.

FOX Entertainment Group CEO Dana Walden had also shared that she is also interested in a "Wayward Pines" season 2 renewal.

"Perhaps, for us, it is another mini-series event if Blake is prepared to lay that mythology into the book series further," Walden told Community Voices, according to Cross Map. "They have just started having conversations about it. We are pleased with the performance of the show. We are interested in hearing what they come to us with!"

Although many FOX execs have already voiced out their interests for a "Wayward Pines" season 2 renewal, the show's executive producer, Chad Hodge, stands by his point of view that the whole story has already been told. According to him, "Wayward Pines" was only created as a mini-series and a season 2 renewal is impossible. Fans are hoping that he could be wrong.

"Wayward Pines" is actually based on Crouch's novels, "Pines," "Wayward," and "The Last Town." Still, just like in any other book-to-movie adaptation, FOX's take on the story featured some changes from the source material.
