Four months too late and now, collaboration updates have revealed that Frank Ocean is confirmed to be working on his music, but it is quite unclear if this is for a new album. Does this mean "Boys Don't Cry" has been scrapped altogether?
Latest news have revealed that Frank Ocean is working on his music with French producer SebastiAn. While this could be good news, the updates have stirred what has already been quite jumbled as far as the new album is concerned.
Ed Banger's Pedro Winter revealed in an interview with LesInRocks via MusicTimes that among the many collaborators, SebastiAN has also been working with Frank Ocean. He confirmed that the French producer has "just finished the production for a few pieces for Frank Ocean - a very exciting collaboration - and then he can turn to his second album.
What does "and then he can turn to his second album" mean? Is the collaboration part of ANOTHER new album, apart from "Boys Don't Cry"? Or is it an addition TO the new album, which means that "Boys Don't Cry" is still undergoing development and that the previously announced July release date was nothing but sham to excite fans worldwide?
Previous reports have already pointed out that "Boys Don't Cry" could may well be cancelled for undisclosed reasons or that this collaboration detail has no actual connection with the lost new Frank Ocean album. The supposed new music could also mean that this could be a replacement and that "Boys Don't Cry" will never actually see the light of day. There are so many possibilities and Frank Ocean's camp keeping quiet about the hullabaloo of his new album isn't helping anyone.
Complex reported that the delay in the new album release date has already taken a toll on Frank Ocean fans and the approach of the year's end is almost driving people to the brink of anger. The singer's stunt on dropping old mixed songs last August fanned the flame even more, with a user (@Kingly_) calling out the singer "Frank Ocean is a snake..."
