What a thriving business it is for Marijuana shop owners in Oregon as news reveals more places to get pot in the state.

Latest news has revealed that the number of Marijuana shops have increased in the state of Oregon, and it's mostly because of medical requirements although recreational use has already been legalized.

According to a report by ZeroHedge, these Marijuana shops in Oregon have grown to become thriving businesses for those owners who have put up retail shops in the state. The report even quipped that the abundance of these retailers could be compared to franchises of popular food chain including McDonald's and Starbucks.

"In the state of Oregon, where marijuana for recreational purposes was legalized just over a month ago, there are already more retail marijuana shops than there are McDonald's or Starbucks," said the news.

The report also added that "281 marijuana businesses in the state due to the fact that there was already a vast network of medical dispensaries there."

Apart from medical use, Oregon has also allowed Marijuana to be used for recreational purposes that increased the demand for the once controlled substance.

"When legalization kicked in, these dispensaries were able to quickly repurpose themselves as retail outlets," added the same report. "This allowed the industry to grow much quicker in Oregon than it did in Colorado or Washington."

As a result of continually increasing demand for Marijuana, news on Oregon has also revealed that regulation of its production has also been pushed. OregonLive pointed out that apart from the Marijuana shops mentioned in the news, other producers namely those growing Marijuana in their backyards need to go through regulation to ensure that the weed isn't laced with pesticides that can ultimately affect the health of the user.

"Starting next year, recreational and medical marijuana sold in Oregon must be screened for nearly 60 pesticides commonly used in cannabis cultivation," revealed the news report.

At least because of this effort, the initially intended medicinal plant wouldn't be causing other health issues for those already sick, as well as those who just use pot for recreational purposes.
