A new "Fairy Tail" TV series has been confirmed for 2016.
Crunchyroll reported that plans for a winter 2016 "Fairy Tail" TV series have been announced. Hiro Mashima's prequel manga, "Fairy Tail Zero," will be adapted to anime.
The cast for the prequel "Fairy Tail" TV series includes Mamiko Noto as Mavis, Katsuyuki Konishi as Yury Dreyar, Yoshihisa Kawahara as Precht Gaebolg, Hiroshi Shirokuma as Warrod Sequen and Akira Ishida as Zeref.
Kodansha Comics announced the upcoming "Fairy Tail" TV series in their official Tumblr account. Series creator Hiro Mashima himself will draw the all-new show that depicts the founding of the Fairy Tail guild.
"Many years ago, Mavis Vermilion was a servant on Sirius Island, mistreated by a guild master and his daughter, Zera," the publication described the story. "But Mavis stayed positive, because her mother once told her that fairies never visit people who cry about their problems."
"When the guild came under attack, Mavis pulled Zera from the wreckage into the forest. Seven years went by, and the powerful wizards Warrod Sequen, Precht, and Yuri Dreyer arrived on the island, seeking a powerful jade gemstone. This journey would change the course of magical history..."
Anime News Network reported that the 52nd issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine has revealed last week that Kana Hanazawa is a part of the "Fairy Tale Zero" cast. She will voice the character Zera in Hiro Mashima's new anime.
Kanazawa admitted that she wants to be able to portray Zera's strength and gentleness faithfully. She added that she is looking forward to being able to talk with Mavis (Mamiko Noto).
The new "Fairy Tail" TV series is said to premiere in January. Kodansha Comics previously announced that it has licensed the "Fairy Tail Zero" prequel manga which will be released by summer 2016.
Hiro Mashima's main "Fairy Tail" manga has had two TV anime adaptations, two video anime, an anime film as well as several spin-off mangas. The second anime TV adaptation was first aired in Japan in Apr. 2014.
