Playstation 5 may be the last gaming console that Sony will ever make.
The Playstation has been around for quite some time and has spawned a number of other consoles that improved with the booming gaming industry. While fans of Sony are already anticipating the release of the Playstation 5, there are rumors that it might turn out to be the last.
"The PlayStation VR is currently being designed to work with the PlayStation 4," Christian Today reported. "Although it is speculated that by the next generation of consoles the VR technology might be integrated with the system, becoming the primary mode of gameplay instead of the traditional hand-held controller set-up."
While the next Playstation gaming console is expected to surpass the expectations of gamers and fans worldwide, the possibility that gaming consoles could be replaced by mobile phones is very high. This means that any console that is currently in develoment could be in danger of becoming a flop. That is unless, they do something more than just a gadget to play games on.
Day Herald reported that in his interview at The Guardian's Changing Media Summit in London, Twitch-a streaming service executive Emmett Shear said, "The sensible thing that should be done by Sony and Microsoft is turn these hardwares into set-top boxes. When it comes to the consumer market, the life cycle of these present generation consoles might be in significant danger."
The Playsttion 5 is expected to be released by 2019 or 2020 and will already have been updated and integrated with VR technology.
Playstation is a series of video game consoles created by Sony Computer Entertainment. The brand was first introduced in 1994 and it has grown since then. There are already four home consoles, a media center, a line of controllers, handheld devices and an online service.
