"Shokugeki No Soma" is one of the biggest surprises in 2015. The anime TV series quickly got the attention of anime fans in US and Japan because of its funny adaptation of the manga while giving viewers amazing display of food.
The first season of "Shokugeki No Soma" ran for 24 episodes according to My Anime List and fans have been clamoring for a follow-up story of Soma and the rest of the gang.
Fortunately, the latest information points to "Shokugeki No Soma" season 2 release date this 2016. According when-will.net, "J.C.Staff studio has renewed the series for another season, slated to air in 2016." No additional information was revealed for the second season premier but if it follows the same timeline of the first season, fans should be able to enjoy the latest series as soon as April this year.
But before fans get excited for an early release, there will be another special event related to the anime series. On May 2, a special edition of the manga's 18th volume will contain something special. According to Anime News Network, the special 18th edition of the manga will feature a DVD that contains an episode that focuses on Aldini Brothers. Pre-orders are already accepted until the end of February. The news did not indicate if it will be released before the second season of the TV series.
So now that the second season of "Shokugeki No Soma" has been announced, what would be the focus of the upcoming series? According to the Reddit forum users dedicated to the anime TV series, the first season covered most of the stories in the first 60 chapters which should be expected for the second season.
However, it should be noted that the story arc involves Azami and Tootsuki does not necessarily end in chapter 120. Fans should expect that the second season will go beyond the usual 60 chapters of manga as source of the anime series.
