Reboot versus season 3 is a tough choice to make, but FUNimation has confirmed a release date for "Tokyo Ghoul." One question though, which one?

There's a great confusion for the return of "Tokyo Ghoul" and some fans aren't arguing as long as the anime TV series returns. A report by MoviePilot has revealed that FUNimation's Gen Fukunaga has revealed the return of "Tokyo Ghoul" and even suggested a release date for season 3.

"With Season 2 now finished and Season 3 set for 2016, the anticipation for the game has only grown higher," shared the FUNimation boss.

Pointed out as a direct release date confirmation, fans of "Tokyo Ghoul" have held on to the hope the season 3 will be making a comeback this year. However, the continued clamor for a reboot of "Tokyo Ghoul" instead of the continuation to season 3 is making a fuss online.

Fans have gone to the ends to demand a reboot instead of season 3 for "Tokyo Ghoul" set with a 2016 release date. A petition was put up recently, pointing out that a continuation of "Tokyo Ghoul" as it progresses to season 3 could be all the more disastrous. "What happened to 'Tokyo Ghoul' is just heartbreaking," it declared.

"We have a manga that is on par with 'Death Note' when it comes to its complexity and psychological theme and it gets that sorry adaptation from Studio Pierrot. Not only did they butcher the plot, they also ruined the characters and their development," added the reboot petition.

The "Tokyo Ghoul" reboot petition's goal is to achieve 10,000 signatures to replace season 3 release date this year for the reboot. FUNimation has yet to release a statement about the matter.

However, while fans remain indignant on the current flow of "Tokyo Ghoul" should it progress to season 3, Inquistr has pointed out that as long as there isn't a reaction from the people behind "Tokyo Ghoul," what all that petitioners could wait for is a release date announcement and if it's going to be rebooted as they wished.

"Tokyo Ghoul" release date is still set sometime this 2016. Whether it will be season 3 or a reboot, remains to be seen.
