"Kill Bill Vol. 3" is happening and Beatrix "Black Mamba" Kiddo (aka The Bride) is coming back, at least, that is what award-winning director Quentin Tarantino is suggesting in his statements, although he is not certain yet as to when.
"There definitely is a possibility. Stop short of seeing a probability... I put the character of Beatrix Kiddo through a lot, and so I wanted her to have this much time for peace... the whole idea [behind waiting so long between films] was everybody would be as old as they are," Quentin Tarantino told What The Flick?! (via Entertainment Weekly).
"The Hateful Eight" director, who has gone back and forth over the years to the idea of a third installment, said that "Kill Bill Vol. 3" is a "possibility" and he is in talks with the original Bride, Uma Thurman, who the director thinks should reprise the role.
"I'm not committing to it, but I wouldn't be surprised if The Bride made one more appearance before the whole thing is said and done," Tarantino previously told Variety. "I am talking to Uma [Thurman] about it just a little bit. Some of the stuff that I'd written that never made it into the movie that maybe I could use."
Movie News Guide, on the other hand, said that when "Kill Bill Vol. 3" is done, it will be Quentin Tarantino's last movie before he retires. The third "Kill Bill," if it indeed gets made, will be Tarantino's tenth film, the ninth being the currently Oscar-nominated "The Hateful Eight."
"Kill Bill" earned a massive $331 million from a budget of only $60 million. While "Kill Bill Vol. 2," from a budget of only $30 million, grossed a total of $152 million. According to Tarantino, "Kill Bill" was originally intended for a single cinematic release but he decided to cut it into two parts because it ran over four hours.
