All around the world, October means going pink in order to raise awareness against breast cancer, which has already killed thousands of men and women, including young adults.

While various organizations are staging fund-raising events through marathons, walks, and auctions, others are taking a stand in their most unique but comfortable way. Take, for example, Cool Beans Coffee located in Spokane, Washington.

In an article published in KREM.com on Monday, October, 13, the owners, Jake and Megan Turner, wishes to remind their customers about the disease by turning the place into pink, from the straws to the table settings.

The word "cancer" is actually very close to the hearts of the couple as their parents struggle through it as well. Jake's mother has advanced breast cancer while Megan's father battles non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Aside from the pink settings, the couple is also asking breast cancer women their pictures they can display as a montage inside the store. They are also trying to raise funds for Susan G. Komen for the Cure and for the women in the community who are fighting breast cancer by giving them a makeover. The coffee stand is extending their merchandise to tumblers and zip-ups. To those who wish to contribute to the fund can go directly to Susan G. Komen for the Cure online or visit the stand.

Women who are candidates for makeover can be seen in the store's Facebook page, and everyone is invited to nominate those who they think deserve to have the makeover, but the actual number of recipients depend on how much money the stand is going to raise.

Although the number of cases of breast cancer has decreased over the last few years, especially when more women stopped getting hormone replacement therapies, more than 200,000 women are still diagnosed with invasive or advanced-stage breast cancer every year in the United States, and about 40,000 of patients will eventually die.
