Being A Pediatric Nurse: Role In Dealing With Children

Being a nurse entails having the ability to take care of other people regardless of their age, gender, race or social status. It is a noble job for the effort, knowledge and skills poured into this profession is undeniable.

One of the hardest roles a nurse could have is being a pediatric nurse. This is of course, a fun and loving aspect of the profession but it can be heartbreaking too.  Every day, they are exposed to children with illnesses, may it be mild or severe. Seeing children suffer from pain, discomfort and emotional stress is a daunting task to fulfill.

However, this can be an avenue for the nurse to stand as the child's advocate and angel. She will definitely make sure the child recovers from the illness and return to his or her pre-illness energy and viewpoint in life. Pediatric nurses are hard up in contemplating on their treatment options for children because the stress imposed on these kids while hospitalized is indeed traumatizing.

Lastly, pediatric nurses are blessed to work with children. They are surrounded by smiles, joy and color. These children remind nurses of how wonderful it is to love life without regrets and hesitations.  All the more, they teach nurses of the true essence of love and happiness. On the other end of the line, nurses teach children on strength to face problems and fears. They enlighten children on the significance of living a healthy life in order to fight illnesses. Also, nurses are the teachers of children in the hospital. They teach them on the importance of health.

Pediatric nurses are working hard to make the stay of children in hospitals less traumatic. It is but important to recognize the efforts of these nurses to their contribution to the welfare of their patients. It is their role to stand as advocate of their patients especially children. They are the ones who will promote the welfare, health and well-being of their patients. They are instruments to uphold the importance of health and prevention of illness.
