The results are in for the winners of the Daytime Emmys 2015!
The 42nd Daytime Emmy Award winners have been unleashed! Including winners "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and "Entertainment Tonight", and "Days of Our Lives" and "The Young and the Restless" on a tie for the outstanding drama series in 2015!
Presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) and Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS), the 42nd Daytime Emmy Awards for 2015 is a recognition for TV shows that are broadcasted between 2AM to 6PM. The ceremony was held last weekend at the Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California.
Winners of the Daytime Emmys 2015 include:
Outstanding Culinary Program: "Barefoot Contessa: Back to Basics" (Food Network)
Outstanding Game/Audience: "Jeopardy!"
Outstanding Morning Program: "CBS News Sunday Morning" (CBS)
Outstanding Morning Program in Spanish: "Un Nuevo Dia"(Telemundo)
Outstanding Talk Show/Informative: "Steve Harvey"
Outstanding Talk Show/Entertainment: "The Ellen DeGeneres Show"
Outstanding Entertainment News Program: "Entertainment Tonight" (CBS)
Outstanding Drama Series: "Days of Our Lives" (NBC) and "The Young and the Restless" (CBS)
Both shows, "Days of Our Lives" and "The Young and the Restless" are among the longest-running TV shows with 1965 and 1973, respectively as its first broadcast. Both are soap operas and are on its no less than 10,000 episodes.
"In its 47 years, 'Days of our Lives' has garnered 215 Daytime Emmy nominations and 32 wins, as well as multiple Soap Opera Digest and People's Choice Awards. The show's success derives from its consistent commitment to excellence in writing and storytelling - supported by a diverse ensemble of performers - and an uncanny knack for anticipating viewer interests. With its mix of classic genre traditions and groundbreaking narratives reflecting modern life, 'Days of our Lives' remains a perennial favorite among viewers of all ages," according to NBC.
CBS, on the other hand, describes "The Young and The Restless" as the "number one daytime drama for more than 20 consecutive years. It revolves around the rivalries, romances, hopes and fears of the residents of the fictional Midwestern metropolis, Genoa City. The lives and loves of a wide variety of characters mingle through the generations, dominated by the Newman, Abbott, Chancellor, Baldwin and Winters families."
