Woman Didn’t Know She Was Pregnant, Gave Birth At Doctor’s Office

(Photo : Carters News Agency) She did not know she was pregnant until she gave birth.

Clare Evans, 24, from Newport South Wales was complaining of stomach aches and called her doctor for consultation. She was about to give a urine sample in the bathroom when her water broke. The doctor found out she was pregnant and her cervix was dilated by already 9 cm and the baby's head is crowning. About half an hour later, she gave birth at the clinic without any pain medicines.

After a fast delivery, she gave birth to baby Erin Louise Roberts, weighing 6lbs 12 oz in the clinic. They called a midwife and an ambulance to attend to her but she was already giving birth so they decided to perform her delivery in the clinic.

At first, when she called her doctor, they suspected that she might have a kidney infection. According to Clare, she was not aware she was pregnant because she doesn't have a baby bump, no signs of pregnancy and even any morning sickness.

The only and first symptom she experienced is the tremendous abdominal pain she was experiencing. They thought it was a kidney infection.

According to a study, about 600 mothers to be will not be aware they are pregnant until they actually give birth. The cases are more common than what people think. In fact, there are many cases like Clare's. Not all women are gaining much weight when they are pregnant, they might mistake it as barely gaining a little weight due to eating too much. Others may not even have amenorrhea or absence of menstruation and some may have no signs at all.

Clare, however, is overwhelmed with the whole surprise baby. She loves motherhood but is still in awe as she was not prepared enough to face such big responsibility. This surprise will surely change her whole life as well as her outlook on life as a mother.
