Police in a northwestern county in China have detained seven individuals who were reported to have forced 7 teenagers who are from local middle schools, among 10 people, to sell their blood at a local plasma collection center.

In the report filed by the victims, the seven suspects threatened and deceived them to sell their blood over 48 times since November 2013 up to May this year. The suspects then splurged the money which totaled to 10,700 yuan and left none for the victims.

A suspect identified as "Zhang" was commissioned by another suspect only known as "Huang" to find blood donors who will make twice a month donations to the local plasma collection center in exchange for money.

This, altogether is a criminal offense since blood donors, who must be adults, in all of Mainland China should not receive any form of payment for their donations.

Delving further into the investigation, the police found out and told China Youth Daily that the said plasma collection center has commissioned all their staff members to look for at least 30 blood donors in exchange for a wage raise of 300 yuan.

The authorities said that the teenage victims were given fake adult IDs in order to qualify as blood donors. Once they were registered, they made donations twice each month, donating 600 cubic centimeters of blood for every donation.

Due to health risks, teenagers are not allowed to donate their blood especially without parental consent. Close scrutiny of the health of the donor along with the donor's blood component levels is a must especially when registering new donors. In this effect, the local plasma collection center where the 10 people have donated their blood may face charges due to negligence.

All of the seven teenage victims and the 3 others are now in good health condition, according to the police.
