Earlier this week, Operation Rescue confirmed that abortion facilities in Ohio do not have the required licenses that are required by the government. Of the 11 abortion facilities across the state, none had the required Ambulatory Surgical Facility license that is required by law prior to the operation of such a facility. One facility was said to have reportedly applied for the renewal of their license, but the Ohio Department of Health has neither denied nor approved their applications as of yet. What troubles the agency most is that despite all of the missing requirements, these abortion clinics are still able to operate, offering surgical abortion despite the lacking documentation allowing them to operate legally within the state of Ohio.
Operation Rescue Pres., Troy Newman, is greatly concerned and addressed the issue bye saying that, "Why are abortion facilities in Ohio allowed to operate with no invalid facility license? If these abortion centers cannot meet the qualifications provided by the loss for licensing, then they should be immediately shut down. There's really no excuse for allowing substandard abortion businesses to continue operating outside of the law."
One such facility in Columbus, Complete Healthcare for Women, closed its doors on August 29 and announced that they will no longer be performing surgical abortions. However, an undercover investigator for Operation Rescue was still offered an abortion appointment in that same facility just a few days before the announcement and despite the fact that the website already indicated that the facility had been closed due to an expired license. Representatives for Complete Healthcare for Women have, since then, said that they had plans of keeping their facility open but will no longer be performing any type of abortions moving forward. This establishment has had a highly documented history of botched abortions and of OSHA violations.
