"Titanfall 2" release date will not be happening this year but it might be set on 2016.

Electronic Arts (EA) Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Blake Jorgensen confirmed that fans should not expect to have a "Titanfall 2" release date until the company's 2017 fiscal year. EA's FY2017 runs from Apr. 1, 2016 to Mar. 31, 2017.

"You should assume ['Titanfall 2'] is not in fiscal '16; it's more likely in fiscal '17," Jorgensen said.

The game may be the company's big holiday release for next year. However, VG24/7 commented that, although the "Titanfall 2" release date may happen in 2016, it is highly likely that it will be within the first quarter of 2017; "unless EA goes big on it at E3 2015."

EA has traditionally published one shooter during the September to November season and it has already announced its massive holiday shooter for this year through "Star Wars: Battlefront."

It was previously reported that Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that the "Titanfall" sequel is in development and will be ready for release on multiple platforms. It will be available on several consoles: Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

"So we're working on a sequel," Vince Zampella, Respawn founder and CEO, told IGN. "No official name yet, but we're working on that. That's the main focus but we're starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff too. Small, exploratory, taking it slow! It'll be multiplatform."

There may be more variety in weapons and a traditional campaign mode could be featured in "Titanfall 2." Abbie Hepe, Respawn Entertainment's community manager confirmed that they have heard the feedback from fans and there are a lot of players who prefer a campaign experience than multiplayer battles.

"An offline mode would certainly help 'Titanfall 2' cater to those that love to engage with a story, even though the team at Respawn was clearly set on making 'Titanfall' a multiplayer shooter from the beginning," Movie Pilot reported. "But we certainly need to see more variety in terms of game modes and maps."
