Lemon Has Amazing Health Benefits

Lemon is a citrus fruit that is commonly used in almost all households across many countries. It is from an evergreen tree mostly seen in Asian countries. Usually used from culinary purposes, it has a sour taste that makes scrumptious dishes. However, recent studies and reports say that lemon is more than just an ingredient in cooking, rather, it contains potent ingredients that are good for the health. In fact, ancient civilizations believed that drinking lemon could save someone from a variety of poisons, microorganism and diseases.

For centuries, there are many health benefits of lemon. Lemon has been used by many civilizations like the ancient Egyptians. It is best known for its antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal properties as well as an immune-boosting agent. It is also known for aiding weight loss.

During the time of the outbreak of scurvy in ships, lemon was used to cure the disease. Scurvy is a disease due to the lack of Vitamin C. Lemon and citrus fruits are rich in Vitamin C which is an important agent for the boosting of the immune system and it is an antioxidant that kills free radicals, the main culprits in many illnesses and even skin aging.

Lemon can help reduce the risk for stroke. According to studies, eating lemon can reduce ischemic stroke risk especially in women. Cancer is also caused by free radicals and since lemons are high in antioxidants, they are potent to fight all types of cancers.

Lemon is good for the skin. Lemon is high in Vitamin C that is good for the skin. Skin aging is a result of skin cells oxidation caused by free radicals. Vitamin C is rich in antioxidants that kill free radicals and at the same time, helps in the synthesis of collagen, the main component of the skin matrix making it elastic and young-looking.

There are lots of health benefits such as preventing asthma, preventing obesity and even diabetes.
