A disturbing news of paricide surfaced as a mother and her boyfriend tortured and killed their 8 year old son who acted gay. For eight months, the child suffered great amount of torture in his own home, by his own family. Pearl Fernandez and boyfriend, Isauro Aguirre called the boy "gay" because of his acting and tortured him until he died two days after being rescued from his home.
The couple will plea guilty in court in order to alleviate the charges from death penalty to just lifetime in prison with no parole. According to reports, they called the boy gay and in instances that they catch him playing with dolls, they would torture them. In fact, according to the two siblings, they would struck him with a baseball bat, forced him to eat cat feces and his vomit, doused him with pepper spray, and locked him inside the cabinet with a sock stuffed in his mouth.
On May 2013, 911 received a call from his mother, Pearl. She asked for an ambulance because his son is not breathing. Upon the arrival of the ambulance found him naked with a broken skull, fractured ribs, and BB pellets embedded in his lungs and groin.
A Facebook page "Gabriel's Justice" was put up to plea for the child's justice. The plea agreement stirred up emotions and anger because they will be saved from death penalty upon stating their guilty plea.
The case prompted calls for the reformation of the Los Angeles County child welfare programs. It was revealed that social workers went to the house upon several calls from the grandmother and teacher that Gabriel is suffering from abuse. They concluded the child was not at risk even if they did not even assess the child properly. The child even wrote a suicide note but the social workers said he is not capable of killing himself. The social workers were fired from work.
