A new "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" trailer was unveiled at E3 2015.

During Square Enix's E3 2015 press conference, the publisher streamed the "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" trailer. It opened with a woman, standing on a train platform in the year 2029. A man bumped into her and she falls to the ground. The woman and protagonist Adam Jensen were unwillingly given mechanical upgrades in an effort to save their lives in "Human Revolution."

"Fear becomes the natural human reflex, the fear of differences. We see it all around us, all the time," Patrick Fortier, gameplay director of "Mankind Divided," said.

The "Deus Ex" series is known for its balanced, open-ended gameplay with complex stories; usually about transhumanism, conspiracy theories, and global politics. In "Mankind Divided," mechanically augmented humans are treated like lepers, ethnic minorities, and political dissidents.

In "Human Revolution," Adam was ambivalent about his cyborg conversion. Now, "he's embracing himself a lot more," Fortier revealed. ""He has no shame or discomfort anymore about who he really is."

Although the "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" trailer was not a gameplay demo, VG247 reported that the clip was actually cut from actual gameplay footage. The game's release date has also been confirmed to be in early 2016. It will be published for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

The game is set two years after the events of "Human Revolution" as well as the "Aug Incident" in Panchaea, which ended the era of human augmentation. Adam Jensen will be returning as the main character and has become an independent counter-terrorism agent. He will be travelling across the world to discover and answer an enormous conspiracy which involves secret organizations working to control the fate of mankind.

"We are fully committed to creating an uncompromising 'Deus Ex' experience: choice and consequence is at the heart of everything we do, whether it be for story, gameplay, customization or exploration," Jean-Francois Dugas, Executive Game Director at Eidos-Montréal, said in an official statement.
