BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse wanted to do something “a little crazy” in celebration of their new Quinoa Bowls on the menu, and so they did.
The restaurant chain is offering a $10,000 gift card to parents who name their newborn baby Quinoa, according to The Huffington Post.
“We are so excited to introduce these amazing new Quinoa Bowls that we wanted to do something big, maybe even a little crazy,” Chief Marketing Officer Kevin Mayer said in a statement.
The rules of the contest are as follows. Whoever names his or her baby Quinoa first during the contest period, which began at 12:00a.m. PDT on June 22 and ends on Labor Day, will reportedly take home the grand prize.
Parents must provide a copy of the baby’s birth certificate and submit it by October 21, 2015 by email or snail mail as proof, according to the news outlet CNBC.
“BJ’s thinks that Quinoa could be a really great baby name, so who knows, maybe it will start a trend,” explained Mayer.
For those who aren’t expecting a baby this summer, you can change your name to Quinoa on Twitter until July 6 for a chance to receive a $10 off $35 coupon to the restaurant chain.
Now the ultimate question for those expecting this summer: would you name your baby Quinoa?
