‘Harry Potter 8’ Cast: Director Chris Columbus Wants To Make Film Post-Battle At Hogwarts

A “Harry Potter 8” movie just might happen soon – if director Chris Columbus gets what he wants. The young wizard’s time at Hogwarts may have already ended four years ago, but the famed film maker reportedly wants to make another film – “Harry Potter 8” – that will depict the events that would have happened following the great battle at Hogwarts.

“I am just fascinated about what happened to them after the end of the last movie because, then, they cut to 18 years ahead,” Columbus told Entertainment Weekly. “There are 18 years there of great ‘Harry Potter’ stories.”

Those who have read and seen the movies are well aware that after Harry beat Lord Voldemort in an epic battle, the story was immediately cut to 18 to 19 years later. This last scene showed the then main characters as grown-ups, sending their own children to Hogwarts via the iconic Platform 9 ¾.

Also, it must be noted that Columbus was the director behind the first two movies of the “Harry Potter” franchise, namely “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” and “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.”

“I would love to go back and do another one,” he added. “Not ‘Fantastic Beasts’ as much, which I think is going to be amazing, but I would love to do another movie with those three characters – Harry, Hermione, and Ron.”

JK Rowling is reportedly adapting a stage play rendition of the story that she has popularized, entitled, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.” Although it has the same title format with the rest of the books that were later adapted into blockbusters, Screen Rant has stated that Rowling was quite adamant that it will not be a prequel.

A “Harry Potter” spinoff film, however, is presently in the works. “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” which is the title of a book that Harry had used as a study material in Hogwarts, will be hitting theaters next year. Set 70 years before Harry’s storyline, it is only understandable that Harry, Ron, and Hermione will not be part of the story.
