Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder won the Liplock award at Nickelodeon's Teen Choice Awards last Aug. 16.
Fans of "The Vampire Diaries" voted for Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder for the Choice TV: Liplock award at the 2015 TCAs.
The real-life ex-couple competed against co-stars Candice Accola and Paul Wesley, Jennifer Morrison and Colin O'Donoghue from "Once Upon A Time," Candice Patton and Grant Gustin in "The Flash," Emily Bett Rickards and Stephen Amell for "Arrow" as well as Gina Rodriguez and Justin Baldoni from "Jane The Virgin."
Nina Dobrev won the Choice Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actress award for her role as Elena Gilbert in "The Vampire Diaries." Ian Somerhalder did not attend the show. The 26-year-old actress got emotional when she accepted her award.
"So the last two months have been a pretty big change for me," she said. "Change. It's a scary word - or at least I used to think that - because it meant new beginnings, new beginnings with a future that's unknown."
"Change is necessary - necessary for you to grow and to learn and to better yourself. Because everything in your life comes to an end. And, as this chapter in my life comes to an end, I look back at it with a grateful heart, and I smile."
"Because just like my character Elena, I started the show as a young girl, and together we've grown up, and over the last six years, we've become women."
CW president Mark Pedowitz admitted that they would have wanted Nina Dobrev to stay with them for "The Vampire Diaries."
"She did a great job for the six years she was on the show," he said at a Television Critics Association panel. "She is welcome back any time she wants to come back."
"TVD" fans may get the ending they want after all. It was previously reported that Elene Gilbert may return to the series. Hopefully, Nikki Reed will not be upset over Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder's love scenes in the future.
