"Dragon Ball Super" episode 8 is entitled "Goku Steps Up! The Last Chance From Beerus?"
Attack of the Fanboy reported that "Dragon Ball Super" episode 8 was "the least eventful episode of the season so far." The publication added that the scenes were mostly time filler.
Similar to what was shown in the trailer, "Dragon Ball Super" episode 8 opened with Vegeta powering up to Super Saiyan and attacking Beerus. The Saiyan Prince's anger was provoked when the God of Destruction slapped Bulma when she stood up to him.
"Dragon Ball Super" episode 7 showed Beerus singlehandedly defeating Z-fighters Gotenks, Piccolo, Tien and Android 18. The God of Destruction got angry because Majin Buu refused to share his pudding with him.
So far, Vegeta is the strongest among all Z-fighters and managed to last longer in battling the God of Destruction than the others. However, he was not the Super Saiyan God whom Beerus was searching the galaxy for.
In "Dragon Ball Super" episode 8, Vegeta was not able to inflict a single scratch on the God of Destruction. Beerus then flicks Vegeta away in frustration because he still did not know where the Super Saiyan God wa and threatens to destroy the Earth.
Despite negative feedback on "Dragon Ball Super" rehashing the story of the film, "Battle of Gods," this episode does it again. Much like in the film, the God of Destruction decided to allow Earth to survive if Oolong can beat him in a game of rock, paper and scissors.
This scene, albeit humorous, was stretched out a bit too long in "Dragon Ball Super" episode 8 unlike in "Battle of Gods." In the end, Beerus still beat Oolong and threatens to blow up the Earth unless Goku comes back.
Contrary to the title, "Dragon Ball Super" episode 8 did not feature Goku, who wants to know how to become a "Super Saiyan God." AOTFB commented that Goku should have arrived earlier to make the story progress faster.
