24-year-old Bhanu Prakash is on the road to beating a record held by American football player Patrick Peterson.
Fortunately, the record has nothing to do with football, but how many selfies one can take in an hour.
Currently, Peterson holds the world record for most selfies in an hour with 1,449 photos, according to Buzzfeed. Prakash is so dedicated to breaking this record that he quit his job as a research assistant to focus full-time on training for this particular feat, according to the news outlet Carbonated TV.
“I was on my way back home, and a few guys were talking about Dwayne Johnson’s record of 105 selfies in three minutes. When I reached home, I did some research work for the application process and fell in love with selfies,” explained Prakash.
“That was what inspired me.”
Training for the world record attempt will reportedly take place on September 18.
Prakash has reportedly been doing hand and wrist exercises and learning to hold his phone up like a statue for hours. He reportedly also bought a tripod stand and a selfie stick so that he can practice taking selfies from different angles.
Prakash’s new record reportedly stands at around 1,700 selfies. Even though he’s already beat the current world record, Prakash reportedly wants to make it up to 1,800 selfies in an hour before the competition, just to be safe.
Prakash’s parents were reportedly initially sad that he had quit his job in order to pursue his selfie dreams, but have since come around to the idea.
