The 37-year old 'Real Housewives' star and competitor in 'Dancing With The Stars' Kim Zolciak suffered from a mild stroke on Wednesday. After being hospitalized and undergoing procedures, she is now discharged and on her road to recovery.
Kim just arrived home from an appreance on "Dancing With The Stars' in Los Angeles when she had a 'mini stroke' attack upon arriving. She recalled feeling numbness on the left side of her body and she lost the ability to speak, CNN reports.
Even if a health scare has threatened her life, the mother of six kept her fans updated through her Instagram account posting photos and live updates. On Friday, she wrote, "Going in for one more procedure, things are looking up, don't let the oxygen scare you its just protocol. I wanted THANK all of you for the love! I feel so overwhelmed with all the texts, comments etc. I'm so grateful to have all of you!"
She was eventually discharged and would rest until she fully recovers. Kim told ET, "I want to thank everyone for their love and support over the past few days. I am now home with my family, resting and taking care of my health. I can't express enough how much I love dancing and this whole experience, and I hope this will not be the end of dancing."
What is a mini stroke? It is also called Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) and according to the American Stroke Association, this condition is caused by a clot but the only difference between a stroke and TIA is that the blockage is only temporary. The symptoms may occur rapidly and would last for a short time. Though it may cause no injury to the brain, people who suffer TIAs are also at higher risk for actual stroke.
When there is blockage to the brain, oxygen supply is diminished causing rapid nerve damage. Most common symptoms include numbness on one side of the body, slurred speech, blurred vision and dizziness.
