'Switched At Birth' Season 5 Premiere: Toby And Lily Are Just 'Beginning The Journey'; Show Runner Reveals 'Really Beautiful Moment'

(Photo : Valerie Macon/Getty Images) HOLLYWOOD, CA - SEPTEMBER 13: (L-R) Constance Marie, Vanessa Marano, Katie Leclerc and Lea Thompson arrive at the Fall Premiere Of ABC's 'Switched At Birth' And Book Launch Party at The Redbury Hotel on September 13, 2012 in Hollywood, California.

"Switched at Birth" season 5 premiere will begin early next year. Although fans of the show only have a couple of months to wait, a show runner has revealed that "not everything is fleshed out."

It looks like show runners are having a bit of difficulty in coming up with new story lines that could be more interesting the previous ones. "There is a general plan," Lizzy Weiss revealed to The Wrap. "We had a million ideas for what the cliffhanger would be. We may still use a couple of them!"

Weiss has not given any hints on the plots that the crew is thinking about using for the "Switched at Birth" season 5 premiere. However, it is expected to top the season 4 climactic events that were involved in Bay and Daphne's relationship issues.

The title of the "Switched at Birth" season 5 premiere is going to be "The Call." Considering that Bay and Daphne got a phone call in the previous finale episode, it is speculated that the show's plot will be focused on that particular communication.

No details have been provided with regards to who the caller was. Whoever it was, though, and whatever he or she said was important enough to make Bay, played by Vanessa Marano, and Daphne, played by Katie Leclerc, want to leave China and come home, as Realty Today has pointed out.

The rumor mill is abuzz with speculations on what the infamous phone call was about. Now that the Kennishes are no longer as rich as they used to be, fans have speculated that the phone call may have had something to do with their family's financial struggles. Plus, Toby, played by Lucas Grabeel, and Lily, played by Rachel Shenton, have also just had their first child - who has Down Syndrome. There are also theories that the phone call was about the baby.

"It was just important that we end the first part of that journey," Weiss added, referring to Toby and Lily's new family. "On the other hand, you are just beginning the journey! That is a really beautiful moment!"
