Tartakovsky returns with the reboot of the classic animated series "Samurai Jack" set for a 2016 release date.

With all the reboot going on, it seems fair that one of the favorite early 2000 animated series is reborn for the current generation to enjoy. A report by TheVerge revealed the good news for "Samurai Jack" fans with the reboot set for a 2016 release date.

"After over 10 years on ice, Samurai Jack is heading back to Cartoon Network next year," it said. "Adult Swim just announced that Genndy Tartakovsky, the animator behind the acclaimed series as well as favorites like Dexter's Laboratory and the animated 'Star Wars: Clone Wars' microseries, is back to produce a new season that will land on Toonami in 2016."

"Samurai Jack" won numerous awards as it ran from 2001 to 2004 including a handful of Primetime Emmy Awards and Annie Awards. Comingsoon shared the original introductory monologue of the hero in the series that began with "Long ago in a distant land, I, Aku, the shape shifting master of darkness, unleashed and unspeakable evil."

"But a foolish samurai warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me," it continued. "Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in time, and flung him into the future where my evil is law. Now the fool seeks to return to the past and undo the future that is Aku."

Fans of "Samurai Jack" have been jolted out of the mere hope to see Jack on-screen again after the latest news of the reboot. Apart from the plans for a 2016 release date for "Samurai Jack," development details have also been revealed, unleashing information that the planned release date remains the focus of Adult Swim.

"The new show is currently in production at Cartoon Network Studios in Los Angeles, once again under the direction of Tartakovsky," reported EW. "The move to Adult Swim suggests the new show may be even darker and more violent than the first iteration, which is not unprecedented for cartoon revivals."
