The US Food and Drug Administration has confirmed that Trader Joe's, one of the biggest and popular specialty chains in the United States, is voluntarily recalling one of its brews after customers complained of bursting bottles.

The brew is called Triple Ginger Brew (SKU 51857). According to the complaints, the bottles explode even if they are still unopened. They were also described as "shattering." Other details of the said report are scant as of the moment, including what is causing the explosion. So far, there's no reported injury or casualty. The contents of the bottle are also deemed to be safe to consume.

However, the recall is expected to apply to all codes and lots that were purchased from Nov. 9 to Dec. 14. The chain has already been pulling its supply off the shelves, and customers who still have some of the bottles are requested to dispose them with great care and caution outside the home. They can then call the chain's customer support at (626) 599-3817 to request for a refund.

The chain has issued a number of recalls this year. In November, it issued a recall for Butternut Squash Triangoli under the brand name Trader Giotto after it is believed to contain tree nuts that have remained undeclared and are not part of the product's ingredient. Tree nuts can cause serious allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis, which are considered life threatening.

In August, it also pulled out from its shelves dark-chocolate-covered honey grahams with sea salt after an investigation pointed out that it contained milk, which wasn't listed in the ingredients section. Like tree nuts, milk can cause a serious allergy, and symptoms such as hives and difficulty in breathing can occur within only a few hours after consuming milk.

Meanwhile, last April, the chain recalled sweet apple chicken sausage when pieces of possible plastics were found in the product.
