"We're just getting started in the studio on a new album," Linkin Park broke the news to their fans this week through this message in their homepage.

After a short hiatus, Linkin Park confirmed that they are finally hitting the studio to work on their seventh LP. In 2015, the "In The End" hitmakers took a brief hiatus as Chester Bennington, following the death of Stone Temple Pilots' original front man Scott Weiland due to an accident overdose. Chester then performed and toured with Stone Temple Pilots.

In November last year, however, Chester Bennington announced that he is leaving Stone Temple Pilots and focus "100 percent" on Linkin Park, which includes working on a new album.

"In all fairness to my bandmates in Linkin Park, as well as to myself and to my family, I'm going to focus solely on Linkin Park so I can contribute 100 percent. It's been an amazing experience and a dream come true, and I look forward to the future of both Stone Temple Pilots and Linkin Park."

Also last year, even at a hiatus, the band's members made it to the headlines. A video of Chester breaking his ankles on stage became viral. Mike Shinoda, on the other hand, got the ire of Chvrches after calling their sound as "Disney music."

This year, they finally enter the studio again and last Jan.5, Chester posted on Instagram a photo of him singing into a studio mic with the caption: "Back to work this week."

What will Linkin Park's new album be like? In a previous interview with AltWire, Shinoda said that their next album will bring about a "different side to their sound."

"I'm really happy with the reaction from 'The Hunting Party,' and I think we're ready to move somewhere new on the next album," Shinoda shared, adding that the American rock band is eyeing for a 2016 release for their new album.

The band's last album was 2014's "The Hunting Party," in which the band went back to their heavy metal roots.
