Are producers thinking of pulling the plug on "Narcos" season 2?

It would seem unlikely for the show to get cancelled since filming has already begun, but reports are claiming that the show is left with no one at the showrunner seat.  What exactly is happening?

"Per Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Adam Fierro will step down from the series after early work on the Season 2 writers room, Fierro having previously stepped in for Chris Brancato," Screen Crush reported.

"Intriguingly however, writer-producers José Padilha and Eric Newman will return as EPs to lead the a team of writers.

Apart from not having a showrunner, the show is experiencing troubles in the storyline flow given that they have already tackled a lot in the first season.

"Making things worse is that season 2 of Narcos was already a delicate knot to tackle," iDigital Times reported.

"Season 1 of the show spanned almost a decade in telling its story, with years sometimes passing between chronological episodes. However, due to where season 1 ended in regards to Escobar's actual timeline, season 2 only has a relatively short period of time to focus on, ranging roughly from Escobar's escape from La Catedral in 1992 to his death on the rooftops of Medellín in 1993."

It was previously mentioned that "Narcos" season 2 is slated for an Aug. 2016 return, but with the sudden turn of events, fans can only hope that cast and crew will be able to stick with their ideal timeline.

As for Wagner Moura, who plays Pablo Escobar on the show, he recently shared some personal experiences and insights on the previous run in a Reddit AMA.

"I really enjoyed doing the last scenes in La Catedral during the final episodes (9 and 10)," he said.

"On those episodes it was a different Pablo, he had changed... and that aims to what we are doing in the second season."
