There is no denying that losing weight and being healthy is not an easy feat which is why the statistics are rather unsurprising. To help with the lofty fitness goals most adults have set for themselves this year, below are three diets that would help kick start accomplishing new year's resolutions.

High Protein, Low carbohydrates

According to Pamela Nisevich Bede, a registered dietitian, eating twice the recommended daily allowance of protein in lieu of carbs would help in weight loss. Bede further suggests that the changes need not be drastic nor expensive. Simply switching from bread to salads and doubling the portion of lean meats like chicken breasts on your dinner plate would be enough to follow the diet.

 Mediterranean Diet

The Mediterranean Diet is more of a lifestyle shift than a diet similar to Atkins or South Beach. According to Oldwayspt.org, people living in countries that lie near the Mediterranean sea are amongst the healthiest in the whole world mostly because of their diets composed mostly of fresh grains, legumes, fruits and vegetables and fish. The diet also entails doing away with processed food and sugars.

Probiotics

According to Kirsten Shanks, founder of Orchard St., maintaining a a healthy balance of good bacteria in a person's gut is one of the most important things one can do for their health.  Shanks reveals that these bacteria have direct effect on immunity, and digestion amongst others. Yogurts and fermented food like kimchee are a big part of this diet. However, good bacteria can also be found in more commonplace foods like garlic, leeks, artichokes and even bananas.
