At the moment, The CW is yet to renew or cancel one of its TV series dubbed "The Originals" for its Season 4. In the mean time, CW President recently announced a crossover between "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals" series and moreover discussed about the change schedule.
Both vampire supernatural TV series "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals" will return on-air to the CW with the second half of their seasons later this month, yet both shows are making the move to a new night.
Both TV series were moved to Fridays, airing at 8 p.m. from its original Thursday timeslot on the network. Hence, some individuals have speculated that the move implies the start of the end for both shows.
For some series fanatics, the move apparently indicates that the series might be making closer to an early conclusion. As a matter of fact, Celeb Dirty Laundry reported that when a show gets Friday night timeslot, it's generally making a shortcut to be crossed out or is encountering low ratings.
The CW President Mark Pedowitz, on the other hand, reassured viewers and made it clear that moving "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals" to a Friday timeslot does not mean a cancellation for either series.
"The move is not to exile [the shows.] It's a move to strengthen Friday night," said Mark Pedowitz, according to TV Line.
Aside from the schedule change, Mark Pedowitz further teased a crossover between both supernatural series later this season. As per shared by the CW President, Paul Wesley will apparently take Stefan Salvatore to New Orleans, and he will visit with Klaus.
Show's creator Julie Plec moreover fuels crossover talks and discussed the particular storyline that will evidently happen amid the said crossover episodes.
"So we're sitting in the room, and the plot point is that Stefan (Paul Wesley) is in trouble and he's being pursued by means of magic so how can we get him safe? Well, let's get him to a place where there's no magic," said Julie Plec, according to Variety.
She added, "And I was like, 'Oh sh-t! St. James Infirmary! There's a place where there's no magic that can work in New Orleans!' And the whole writer's room just went, "Yay! Finally!" because they've been waiting so long for that opportunity."
The crossover between "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals" will apparently span over two separate episodes, one for each of the shows - both in episode 14 of the respective series.
What's more, the shows' creator further revealed that Caroline (Candice King) character will be included in the crossover. "There is a presence of Caroline buried within that, but I can't really say in what context."
All things said, viewers will once again watch their favourite CW series, as it is set to return on Jan. 29. Are you excited of the crossover between "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals"?
