"Kuroko No Basket" is one of the most popular sports-themed anime today thanks to its unique take on sports anime combined with impressive animation.
Instead of the usual "unknown hero" story, "Kuroko No Basket" focuses on a mysterious player working along with someone looking for greatness in the world of high school basketball.
According to My Anime List, the sports themed anime started in 2012 and got the attention of anime lovers worldwide. Because of its success, the second and third series were commissioned. The second season ran from October 2013 to March 2014 while the third series premiered in January 2015 with the final episode airing last June 2015.
Even though "Kuroko No Basket" ranks high in sports themed anime, information about the upcoming season is scarce. As of this writing, the studio behind the hit anime series did not make any formal announcement on the anime's renewal or cancellation.
According to when-will.net, the studio behind "Kuroko No Basket" is none other than Production IG. Although the name is not familiar to casual anime fans, Production IG is one of the leading anime studios in the world due to their dedication to digital animation.
Aside from the popular sports themed anime, Production IG is also responsible for "Attack on Titan," "Ghost in the Shell, "Blood +" and even the anime sequences on "Kill Bill" movies by Quentin Tarantino.
But even though there are no formal announcements, fans are eagerly anticipating its release soon. According to Date Release, "while the first season was out in 2012, the fans saw the third one three years later, in 2015. Following this pattern, we can expect the fourth season of Kuroko no Basuke somewhere between 2016 and 2017." Season 4 will likely pick up where the story left - the reunion of players from the "Generation of Miracles" and Seirin High winning the Winter Cup.
But even though the continuation of the story is not yet confirmed fans still has something to look forward to. Anime News Network reported September last year of an upcoming movie based on the popular anime series.
