Paintings and other forms of visual art create a significant impact in inspiring society to participate in social development initiatives that can help encourage people to give importance to urbanization. Paintings spark a revolution.
This is what the International Conference on Urban Health (ICUH) 2015 believes, as mirrored by next year's children art competition entitled "City of Dreams", organized by the ICUH. The objective of the competition is "to encourage children to envision their city of dream and project it through the canvas; in particular, what they aspire to have or change in the city of their origin, to embrace the urban life."
Children between the ages 9 to 16 years old can join the competition, and can submit their entries online at the ICUH 2015 website. Submissions can be made in any art medium such as the following: water color, charcoal, pastels, pencils, crayons, acrylic, paper cuttings, oil paint, and many more, on any type of canvas or paper.
The official categories for this competition are the following: water color paintings, oil color paintings, pencil sketching and shading, cartoon making, drawing with crayons/pastel, and acrylic paintings.
All artworks should conform to the standard size- 8.5 x 11 inches. Contest participants need to take a photo of their work and upload it in the attached form found in the City of Dreams official page.
The ICUH 2015 will be held in South Asia, particularly in Bangladesh. ICUH believes that holding the next year's conference in Bangladesh is meaningful and in line with the country's ongoing development, highlighting the importance of urban health for sustainable development.
ICUH 2015 aims to promote the idea "that we need to think of urbanization with its impact on the environment, economy, and social factors, which will benefit all segment of the population."
Regular registration for the conference ends on December 31, 2014.
