Google's project Ara covered many hiccups and now is at a stage where it is tested for the functionalities it had promised to the users.

In the beginning, the smartphone enthusiasts who are waiting for the launch of the revolutionary Project Ara were disappointed with the news that the development of the phone was not happening the way it was envisaged.

Wired.com reported way back in April 2014 about the project Ara Developer's Conference in Santa Clara, CA, USA. The project lead Paul Eremenko addressed the crowd and talked about the latest development phase of this smartphone.

"You should temper your applause," he warned, explaining that the device had been damaged the previous day. "We did crack the screen, and the phone doesn't quite boot." A disappointment, sure, but it did little to actually temper anything.

However, a lot of time has passed since then a lot of modules were completed for Project Ara. As per the latest update on creativform, the google project Ara has progressed quite a bit.

Google project Ara is named after its co-founder, Ara Knaian. She is leading this team and her capabilities as a mechanical designer is commendable. The basic platform of this upcoming smartphone will follow and open-source model. Every physical object will occur as a result of the public sharing of information. One can build a hardware configuration for his/her smartphone to be whatever s/he wants it to be. For e.g. if one is a sports fan, then s/he can install his/her favorite team's logo on the smartphone.

Thanks to the modular platform, the possibilities are endless. This Google Ara phone can be the same as the user's car keys. One could possess a sensor that tests the water quality which may prove to be a vital gadget if one is on a trek or non-habitable area.

Google Ara can be converted into a select phone made just for gamers. If the user is going on a camping trip and they do not have access to electricity, using Google Ara will be the smartest choice. Since they cannot recharge the battery they can choose a battery that lasts for days.

In short this is a customizable phone and the users can build almost their own phone. And what's even more fascinating is that as the new module-launches, users will be able to buy it and build on each part individually, without buying another mobile phone. This will extend the life of their device and contribute to reducing electronic waste. Also, the user will always have a modern device.
