Washington D.C. is currently in the midst of a massive snow blizzard. Reportedly, the storm is expected to affect almost 50 million people from Arkansas all the way up to New England.

Washington D.C took the first hit of the snow storm. It is expected that New York would soon follow suit. Since both cities are known for being metropolitan areas, a lot of its citizens got stranded in their vehicles for more than 9 hours. Even the President was no match for the wrath of the blizzard. The thick ice proved to troublesome for cars to manoeuvre on. Some people chose to walk and just leave their cars in the streets. Subsequently, this decision has led to the worst traffic jams the cities have seen.

Mayor Bill de Blasio has since issued a statement urging the people of NYC to be aware of their surroundings. The mayor was also quick to reassure his citizens that the local government is doing everything they can to ensure their safety.

"We're bracing for the first big storm of the winter,. And I want to let all my fellow New Yorkers know that we are prepared, that the agencies here are ready for what's coming up ahead. When the storm hits it is crucial for people to stay off the streets to the maximum extent possible. If you need to move around, use mass transit" urged the Mayor.

Panic has begun to encroach the citizen of both cities. Some stored have been forced to close down because panic buyers have wiped out their shelves. Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser has since also apologized for the inadequate response to the situation her constituents are in.

"We believe that we did not provide adequate resources at a time when it could (have made) a difference in last evening's commute. We should have been out with more resources" explained Bowser.
