The mother of a boy who passed away from unknown reasons feels overwhelmed to hear his heart beat again, this time inside a 4-year-old girl. She cannot hold back her emotions as she hugged the girl whose heart used to belong to her little boy.
Mom Healther Clark cannot contain her emotions upon seeing the little girl who benefited from her son Lucas' heart, KSAZ reported. She donated her son's organs after he died back in 2013, while just seven-months-old. Jordan Drake, the donor recipient, and her mom Esther Gonzalez met with Clark and shared tears and hugs. The encounter was made even more momentous when Clark put a stethoscope on the girl's heart and heard it beat.
Jordan, in her young age, already went through harrowing time getting treated in Phoenix Children's Hospital for years because of her congenital heart defect. To finally have a new heart is indeed a blessing, her mom said. Gonzalez was all praise for Clark. "It's hard to describe ... that she would be so selfless to be able to think of another family while she's going through her grief," she said. "We're family now, we're friends now, our families are families, we've brought our families together," she added.
Earlier on, Clark went to Facebook to talk about her plans of meeting with the family. She also explained why two years ago, she decided to donated the organs of her little boy. According to her heartfelt post, she knows what it feels like and can sympathize with the family. By donating the organs, she is hoping that she would be helping a family avoid losing a child, and make them not go through what she personally went through. She added that she is very excited to meet Jordan, because she will be able to hear his son's heart beat again.
