"Left 4 Dead" was one of the biggest games released in PC and fans have been desperately waiting for a 3rd installment.

While no confirmation on a release date has been given, users of Xbox One can play the old games in the console's Backward Compatibility feature.

Xbox released the announcement on their website. The feature allows gamers to "play a growing number of your Xbox 360 games on Xbox One at no additional cost. With over 100 titles available now and hundreds more in the months to come, Xbox One is now the best place to play your Xbox 360 games."

It gives fans and loyal Xbox users to "Experience the greatest games lineup in Xbox history-exclusively on Xbox One."

According to express.co.uk, Microsoft team gave Xbox users the ability to vote and request for what games they could play in the new and exciting feature. A top 10 list was made and only 1 game was confirmed to be released: "Black Ops 2." "Left 4 Dead" was left out of the top 10 list but fans are still hopeful it would be included.

express.co.uk also reported that "Left 4 Dead 3" is now Valve Studios' top priority but  will be expected to come out in 2017. One of the key updates is the introduction of 4 new characters namely gangster Irvin, comic book nerd Keenan, famous Kenpo fighter Garrett Jr and the sole female character Katherine.

One of the game's original developers Minh Le said on gamespot.com confirmed that the game is being developed and shared his thoughts on the game's developments.

"So I was really excited when I saw that," Le said. "I was like 'Wow, this looks great.' I really enjoyed Left 4 Dead," he shared. "It was just one of those games that really changed the industry because I think at the time there weren't many good co-op games, so it was like, 'Yeah, this is a great co-op game.'"
