Fans of the hit game "God of War" may not see the franchise's 4th installment anytime soon.

According to ign.com, the game is set to be released 2016 or 2017. One of the game's lead developers Cory Barlog said that he will promise to update fans regarding the game's progress.

It was also reported that Sony Playstation's highly anticipated PlayStation VR had a test run with "God of War" on Playstation 3. The results were great according to PlayStation's President of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida.

"It was actually on PS3 at Santa Monica Studios," Yoshida said. "A developer who'd been working on 'God of War' got me to try a handmade headset and when I put it on he used a 'God of War' game. I was Kratos in first person view. When I looked down, I saw a strong man's body and I thought: 'I'm sold.'"

Yoshida added, "Working on PlayStation VR, I feel like I'm back 20 years ago. I feel like I'm younger again."

As reported by pcadvisor.com, PlayStation executive Masayasu Ito said, "The name 'PlayStation VR' not only directly expresses an entirely new experience from PlayStation that allows players to feel as if they are physically inside the virtual world of a game, but it also reflects our hopes that we want our users to feel a sense of familiarity as they enjoy this amazing experience."

Now, experts believe that the reason behind "God of War 4's" delayed release is that it will be one of the first games to be used in Playstation VR.

It was reported on christianpost.com that Kratos may be seen again despite his death in the last game. Despite the uncertainty, the next game will definitely be a continuation of the previous game. One thing's for sure, the game will definitely not be a prequel and will continue the story line from the previous game.
