With the NBA trade deadline looming, the rumors are currently on overdrive. One of the loudest whispers comes from the Houston Rockets where team execs supposedly received calls from the Boston Celtics for Dwight Howard.
According to the NY Daily News, the Celtics "have engaged" the Rockets regarding the prized center who has been surging as of late before he was suspended for one game for hitting an official.
"Howard can opt out of his contract this summer, and considering his back and knee issues, it doesn't make much sense for Boston GM Danny Ainge to use the assets on a player with declining skills and a battered body," it said.
The Boston Celtics being active in the NBA trade rumors is not surprising considering the report that Danny Ainge is being "quietly aggressive" to pursue top talents.
"Boston has been quietly aggressive, with its well-chronicled array of assets, in search of the splashy move we all know team president Danny Ainge would love to make," it said.
But at the time of the report, there's star on target by the Celtics just yet as they are not likely to get DeMarcus Cousins without gutting their roster. The Cavaliers, meanwhile, are playing coy on Kevin Love.
"There isn't a starry trade target for Ainge to chase. At least not yet," it said.
Meanwhile, Kevin Durant from out of the blue found himself being dragged into trade rumors. However, it's not as surprising considering that the former MVP is going to walk way to free agency in the off-season.
What's surprising, however, is that the Golden State Warriors are reportedly the top contender to land the 6'11" sweet-shooting forward, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.
"Golden State has everything, including the ability to create the salary-cap space and a belief that Durant's persona could fit seamlessly - even onto a potential two-time defending champion," he wrote.
As of now, however, Kevin Durant seems to be staying put as he was quoted multiple times in the past that he loves Oklahoma and has no plans of leaving as long as the team is committed to win a championship.
