The story of Naruto has been confirmed to continue through his son, Boruto.

According to Shonen Jump, "starting Spring 2016, a special Boruto one-shot created by Masashi Kishimoto and a new monthly series starring Boruto will return..." With just a couple of months away, fans are eager to learn more about the possible story, how the new manga series would start and even how it would differ from the original series.

Not much has been revealed or what is known about the possible storyline. However, there are some clues that provide a good glimpse of what may happen in the future chapters. Everyone is already aware of Boruto, Sarada and Mitsuki as one team but the poster released through Anime News Network reveals another character in the mix that could be a game changer in the series: Shikadai Nara.

Based on Wikia page dedicated to the world of Naruto, Shikadai Nara is the nephew of the Kazekage (Gaara) with Temari of the Sand Village as her mother and Shikamaru as his father. He possesses the abilities of her father but it was further expanded with the help of her mother. The son of Shikamaru is also part of a three-person group, "Ino-Shika-Cho" where he is often seen and regarded as the leader.

Shikadai's father, Shikamaru has also appeared in "Boruto: The Naruto Movie," according to Anime News Network. In the film, Shikamaru did not have a lot of action but he is regarded as the trusted ally of Naruto since he often works on behalf of the Hokage.

This setting would definitely have a big impact on the manga series especially when it starts where the movie left off since Shikadai Nara will be acknowledged not only because of his father but for his natural abilities as well.

How the story unfolds is definitely intriguing. However, Masashi Kishimoto will continue to supervise the storyline of the manga series so fans are assured that everything (including Naruto's story) is canon.
