The Toronto Raptors have been looking for a power forward to boost their chances of going deep in this year's Playoffs.
It's been reported by raptorshq.com that the team has been looking at disgruntled forward Markieff Morris. While Morris has been eyed by the Raps for quite some time, the team is also looking at P.J. Tucker who is also from the Phoenix Suns as a solution to this void. It's common knowledge around the league that Morris is on the trading block because of his destroyed relationship with the front office.
Based on a previous interview with philly.com, Morris said he didn't want to be with Suns organization anymore. "One thing for sure, I am not going to be there," Morris said during the offseason.
"If you want to put that out there, you can put that out, " he added. "I don't give a [freak]. I am not going to be there at all. That's just what it is."
When asked whether he would show up for the team this season, Morris said "I've got to show up. No question. You can't do that. I will be a professional. Don't get me wrong."
"But it won't get that far," he added. "I'm going to be out before then, should be."
He attributed his disdain for the franchise after the team supposedly haggled into a contract that came with the presumption that he would be packaged with his brother. The team then traded his brother to the Pistons.
"If you are going to do something, do it," Morris said. "The GM, I've been there longer than him, the coaches, everybody. I've been there the longest, and I don't get the respect to be like, 'Yo Keef, we are going to trade your brother. You are our future power forward.' I'm the future power forward. I'm the premier player of the team. That's just how business is done I guess."
The proposed trade offer of the Raptors would be Patrick Patterson and a 1st round draft pick to the suns for Tucker and the unhappy Morris.
