During this year's Consumer Electronics Show, Nikon confirmed that they will be moving the release date of their much-anticipated and recently-announced flagship DX DSLR, D500, to late April this year.
An Ubergizmo article said that it was originally set that the device will be shipped in March, but due to the company's own reasons, release in this initial target date will not be happening anymore.
On the bright side, consumers and retailers will not be waiting long as the reset date will approximately be one and a half months away from the initial target date. Although delayed, consumers can still pacify their eagerness in getting their hands on the camera since the amount of extension time pretty much won't hurt.
As for the reason behind the delay, Nikon confirmed that they were not able to produce the demand from pre-orders and that they need an extended time to meet the demand upsurge. Based on a Google-translated announcement in an article by DIY Photography, Nikon said:
"Dear I received patronize a Nikon product, Thank you very much.
This time, Niokimashite new products following which had been scheduled to be released in March, per well received, because it can not offer the number required for the sale, we will postpone the Release Date.
We apologize for the inconvenience, thank you for patience.
Release Date: late April 2016"
To give potential buyers an idea about this new DSLR, PetaPixel reports that Nikon D500 is the successor of the Nikon 300S but most of its features are similar to the Nikon D5.
In Nikon's Official Website, the Nikon D500 will feature a 20.9 MP CMOS sensor, an EXPEED 5 image processing engine, a 153-point AF array, a 180K RGB metering, a 3.2-inch touchscreen tilting display, a 4k UHD video running at 30 fps and a 100-51200 ISO exposure.
Price will range from $1,999.95 to $3,069.95 depending if you are going to purchase the body alone or bundled together with a 16-80mm f/3.5-5.6 lens kit, Ubergizmo reported.
