Recent reports suggest that the iconic virtual band Gorillaz is currently working on their new album, which is expected to release sometime in 2016.
The yet-to-be-titled album will be the band's first studio album in the last five years. Their last full studio album was "Plastic Beach," which was released in 2010.
In an interview with DIY Mag, band member Jamie Hewlett had confirmed that work on Gorillaz new album is going very well.
"That's next year," Hewlett said speaking of the band's upcoming plans, according to Kpopstarz. "I'm working on it at the moment, and it's going very well. I'm very excited. I don't want to say too much about it, but I'm at that phase of experimentation. What I try not to do when I'm working in this creative period, the cooking of the mess, is go to other peoples' exhibitions and look at other peoples' work.
"I close my eyes, and don't want to know what anyone else is doing. Doing that has kind of ruined the creative process for me in the past, and I don't want to let that happen again," he added.
In an interview with NME, band member Damon Albarn discussed how the band members are preparing for the new album and that he missed the life of being in the studio all day working for the disc.
"I'd love to just get back into that routine of being at home and coming to the studio five days a week," Albarn said while talking about the new Gorillaz album.
Previously, there were reports which claimed David Bowie had planned to collaborate with Gorillaz for their new album. But, due to Bowie's sudden death, it still remains a mystery whether the album will feature any such track.
Gorillaz is yet to announce a release date for the new album.
