Fans may have to wait a little longer before "Sherlock" season 4 premiers. Spoilers however are keeping fans afloat by providing bits and pieces of what they can expect in the upcoming run.
Production has yet to start, but reports confirmed that a Spring start of filming is already in place. Apart from filming, execs reportedly have a plot in mind for season 4.
Vine report claimed that the upcoming run will be "dark" and will see the consequences of some character's choices in the past. However, despite the more serious tone, the series will stay true to its humor.
"There's a sense of... things... coming back to bite you. It's not a safe, sensible way to live. It's hilarious and exhilarating some days, but some days it's going to be bloody frightening," co-creator Steven Moffat shared.
Meanwhile, other "Sherlock" season 4 spoilers teased that several events could unfold including the inclusion of the third Holmes bro who will allegedly be played by Tom Hiddleston, and possibly Mary Morstan's death.
Moffat has recently dished on their preps for season 4, and he hinted that the new episodes will be "devastating."
"We have a plan to top it," he said to Entertainment Weekly. "And I do think our plan is devastating. We've practically reduced our cast to tears telling them the plan ... we're probably more excited that we've ever been about Sherlock ."
"We're certainly going to put them through the mill," he added. "It's going to be more of an emotional upheaval."
"Sherlock" season 4 is slated for a Jan. 2017 release date.
