The CW has ordered six new pilots and the upcoming TV shows include "Transylvania," an untitled mars project, an untitled paranormal, "Frequency," "No Tomorrow" and an live-action take on "Archie Comics," entitled "Riverdale," according to Entertainment Weekly.

"Archie Comics" is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2016 and it's a major year for the brand, as The CW will start shooting "Riverdale's" pilot episode this spring, as seen on the comic book's official website.

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will write The CW's one-hour drama and the new "Archie" TV show "Riverdale," will be produced by Berlanti Productions and Warner Brothers Studios. Executive producers include Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schecter, Jon Goldwater and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

The CW has continued their relationship with Greg Berlanti, known as a mega-producer, revealed Variety.

He has handled the network's successful DC comics adaptations and these are, "Arrow," "Flash" and "Legends of Tomorrow," reported UPI.

The series will reportedly offer a "bold, subversive" take on Archie, Veronica, Betty and their friends. Below is the show's official pitch.

America's well-loved teenager, Archie and his friends "will be "exploring small-town life and the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale's wholesome facade."

"The show will focus on the eternal love triangle of Archie Andrews, girl-next-door Betty Cooper, and rich socialite Veronica Lodge, and will include the entire cast of characters from the comic books including Archie's rival, Reggie Mantle, and his slacker best friend, Jughead Jones."

Meanwhile, the other show picked up by The CW is period piece "Transylvania," which will feature its classic horror monsters. It is set in 1880 and a young headstrong woman will be searching for her missing father.

She will travel from New York City to Transylvania, where she meets a wrongfully disgraced Scotland Yard Detective. The two will witness births of famous villains and monsters. Midnight Radio and CBS TV Studios will produce the show.

"Transylvania's" executive producers include, Andre Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, Scott Rosenberg, Josh Applebaum and Hugh Sterbakov, who is also tasked to write the series' pilot episode.

The CW's new "Archie Comics" TV show "Riverdale," will introduce other characters from the book, including Josie and the Pussycats.
