With its second season that averaged 4.4 million viewers with a 3.1 rating from a survey for its first two episodes, renewal of Spike's "Lip Sync Battle" for a third season will most likely won't come as a surprise.

Just recently in its season 2 premier, actor Channing Tatum together with wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum battled it out with Beyonce in singing "Run The World" last January 7 which enabled the show to attain its best ratings ever.

20 new half-hour episodes will be shown in its newest season that will be airing as scheduled according to Variety. Hollywood Reporter claimed that the new season will start shooting  late 2016, with a premiere date which is yet to be announced sometime in the future.

Since the show's debut in April 2005, "Lip Sync Battle" was able to accumulate almost half a billion video streams coming from different forms of media. It has since become Spike's most-watched original series in the history of cable, Variety revealed.

Spike's President, Kevin Kay, described the show as: "Lip Sync Battle is a multiplatform pop-culture phenomenon that has played an integral role in delivering a new and broader audience to Spike."

As reported by The Wrap, "Lip Sync Battle", hosted by LL Cool J with Chrissy Teigen as the commentator, is a venue for celebrities to battle with each other by conducting intricate lip sync performances.

Over the past seasons, the show has already included celebrity performers Anne Hathway, Justin Bieber, Dwayne Johnson, John Legend, Queen Latifah and Jimmy Fallon. In the next season, viewers will likely to expect lip sync performances from guests like Snoop Dogg, Shaquille O'Neal, Eva Longoria, Nina Dobrev and Kaley Cuoco, Variety reported.

From the massive support that it received last season, high ratings for the upcoming season will probably come in handy for Spike and the show.
